Splendoria


Splendoria – a female name found on Lipari during the late-1500s to early 1600s but not afterwards. Derived from the Latin splendor, splendoris = brilliance, brightness; from splendere = to shine, be radiant. Hence, to shine, be bright, radiant, resplendent.

So there was Splendoria di Taranto (1567), Splendoria Sbeglia (1574), Splendoria Russo (b.c.1580s), Sblendoria Lazzaro (b.c.1580s), Splendoria Nigro (1584), Sblandoria Ambre (1602), Splendoria Barbuto (1611), and Splendoria Catanisi (1615).
